I was perfectly healthy in September, but in November we discovered that I had a glucose level of 435. Normal is from about 75 to 115, so 435 was pretty much through the roof. This meant goodbye to glazed donuts and hello to daily injections...but the needles are really small.

Portion Control
Well, as much as I kvetch and kvell about not being able to eat what I want when I want it, I actually do like the smaller portions. In fact, sometimes the smaller portions seem like too much. And when that happens...I STOP EATING (imagine that), and put away the rest for later on in the day when I want to nosh a little.
Hey...maybe I'll nosh a little now on what I put away earlier!

So Who Sneezed On Me?
So apparently I've developed a type of diabetes that comes on suddenly from a virus that just knocks out your pancreas as a side effect. Sort of like on Monday you're fine, on Tuesday you have a cold, on Wednesday you have a cold and diabetes, by Friday your cold is gone, but the diabetes is here to stay.

Diabetes For Dummies
Cheryl has gone out to get some more palatable medicine for Sofie and Diabetes for Dummies for me. It'll be a fun read.
Happy Birthday, Cheryl!
Happy Birthday to my wife who now has TWO sick kids at home. Me with just recently diagnosed diabetes, and Sofie with pneumonia. Devra's out of town with her grandmother, visiting Miami University (in Ohio), and, of course, Pitt.
Some present.
Diabetes?
We have an answer to the mystery illness that's be plaguing me for the past two weeks (but was probably creeping on me slowly before that). It's diabetes. I see the doctor on Monday, and have been told to check out the website of the American Diabetes Association.
This explains a whole lot!
